Donald Trump has signed a 20 year deal to run and operate the Ferry Point Park Golf Course in the Bronx. Trump has pledged at least $10 million for the project that includes the build-out and design of a new clubhouse.
The Ferry Point Park GC is a Jack Nicklaus designed signature course that’s located at the edge of the Whitestone Bridge and highlights the New York City skyline.
Trump said, ”This is an opportunity to have one of our country’s greatest golf courses right smack in the middle of New York City an unheard of opportunity.”
Trump also hinted that the course would one day host a “tournament quality, championship tour play.”
Adrian Benepe parks Department Commissioner said, “This new public golf course will be a great amenity for the Bronx, for the city and for visitors.”
Ferry Point has been a project that’s been sitting around for 14 years because of over spent funds and false starts. To have a championship, Nicklaus designed golf course so close to the heart of the city will certainly generate a buzz and I’m sure a ton of tee times.
